JIS B0 paper size
1030 × 1456 mm
40.55 × 57.32 inches · 103 × 145.6 cm · aspect ratio 1:1.41
JIS B0 size is 1030 × 1456 mm. Those are the JIS B0 dimensions a printer works to; the same sheet in centimetres, inches, points and pixels is below.
What JIS B0 is for
JIS B0 is 1030 × 1456 mm. The base of the JIS B series, defined as 1.5 square metres — half again the area of A0. Every smaller JIS B size is this one halved, exactly as the A series works.
JIS B0 dimensions in every unit
| Unit | Width | Height |
|---|---|---|
| Millimetres | 1030 mm | 1456 mm |
| Centimetres | 103 cm | 145.6 cm |
| Inches | 40.55 in | 57.32 in |
| Points (PostScript) | 2920 pt | 4127 pt |
JIS B0 in pixels
Pixel dimensions depend entirely on the resolution you are working at — there is no single "pixel size" for a sheet of paper. JIS B0 size in pixels has every resolution, with file sizes and canvas setup.
| Resolution | Pixels | Use |
|---|---|---|
| 72 DPI | 2920 × 4127 | Screen preview only — far too coarse to print |
| 150 DPI | 6083 × 8598 | Draft printing, internal documents |
| 300 DPI | 12165 × 17197 | The standard for commercial print |
| 600 DPI | 24331 × 34394 | Fine detail, line art, archival scanning |
Setting up a print document? Use 300 DPI and add 3 mm of bleed on every edge unless your printer specifies otherwise.
How JIS B0 relates to the rest of the series
JIS B0 is defined as 1.5 square metres, where ISO A0 is one. JIS B0 is that sheet halved no times — it is the base of the series, so its area is the full 1.5 m².
That 1.5 against 1 is why the series exists: at 1030 × 1456 mm, JIS B0 is about 22% longer on each edge than A0 (841 × 1189 mm), filling the gap the A series leaves between one size and the next.
It is not the same sheet as ISO B0, which is 1000 × 1414 mm. The two standards share every name in the series and agree on none of the sizes, so a tray, binder or sleeve cut for one will not take the other. Ask a printer for "B0" outside Japan and you will get the ISO sheet.
Scaling between neighbouring JIS B sizes is the same √2 as the A series — 141% up, 71% down — because JIS B is built by halving too. Only the starting area differs.
