What ARCH D is for
ARCH D, 24 × 36 inches, is the default sheet for an American set of construction documents — the size floor plans are laid out at, the size title blocks are drawn for, and what a builder means by "a full-size sheet". It is four ARCH A sheets, or two ARCH C. The trap is ANSI D, which is 22 × 34 inches: two inches narrower and two shorter, close enough that a plotter accepts either without complaint, and different enough that a set sent to the wrong one is reduced by roughly 8% — after which every dimension a builder scales off the paper is wrong, silently, in the only direction nobody checks.

ARCH D in pixels
Pixel dimensions depend entirely on the resolution you are working at — there is no single "pixel size" for a sheet of paper.
| Resolution | Pixels | Use |
|---|---|---|
| 72 DPI | 1728 × 2592 | Screen preview only — far too coarse to print |
| 150 DPI | 3600 × 5400 | Draft printing, internal documents |
| 300 DPI | 7200 × 10800 | The standard for commercial print |
| 600 DPI | 14400 × 21600 | Fine detail, line art, archival scanning |
Setting up a print document? Use 300 DPI and add 3 mm of bleed on every edge unless your printer specifies otherwise.
