Eastern European Time is UTC+2, used by Greece, Finland, Romania, Bulgaria and the Baltic states in winter, and by Egypt and much of the eastern Mediterranean. New Zealand Daylight Time is UTC+13, one of the few offsets past twelve hours and therefore a full calendar day ahead of most of the Americas. New Zealand's summer is the northern hemisphere's winter, so NZDT applies over Christmas — the opposite of every northern daylight-saving abbreviation, and a common mistake in end-of-year scheduling.
Does this gap change with the seasons?
This gap is seasonal. The abbreviations themselves are fixed offsets, but the region on EET switches to EEST (UTC+3) from late March to late October. So the 11-hour figure on this page is correct for the part of the year when both places are actually on these abbreviations, and changes by an hour outside it.
NZDT does not shift, so the whole change comes from one side. A recurring meeting fixed in NZDT will appear to move by an hour for everyone on the other side, twice a year, without anyone changing anything.
This is the reason scheduling systems store an IANA zone such as Region/City rather than an offset or an abbreviation: the zone knows its own rules and the offset does not.
