About the LR44
The alkaline button cell in calculators, small toys and laser pointers, and the worst-named battery in common use: LR44, AG13, A76, 1166A and L1154 are all the same cell. The silver-oxide equivalent is the SR44 or 357, which is the same size at a steadier 1.55 V and roughly twice the capacity — worth the extra in a light meter, irrelevant in a toy.

Same diameter, different thickness
These are the cells most often confused with a LR44, because they are exactly as wide and only differ in one dimension.

Frequently asked questions
What size is a LR44 battery?
11.6 mm across and 5.4 mm thick — 0.46 × 0.21 inches.
What voltage is a LR44?
1.5 V (Alkaline).
What is another name for a LR44?
AG13, A76, 357 (silver), SR44, LR1154 — all the same cell.
Can I use a CR1220 instead of a LR44?
They are the same diameter, 11.6 mm, and different thicknesses: 5.4 mm against 2. A CR1220 is thinner, so it may rattle or lose contact, and it holds less. Same voltage, so nothing is damaged by trying.
